The eSoftware program is an installation tool that will allow you to install the full computer program on your computer. Please note that all eSoftware products require a Microsoft Windows(R)-based computer.  Chess.Cool I have a buddy who beats that thing all the time. He is a very good chess player, and estimates that thing at 1800 or so. The online version does not have an extensive opening book or shredderbases, so it's quite easy to get the upper hand if you are an experienced player. :)

Shredder is split into two parts. First and foremost the engine, i.e. the real chess program, which represents the real strength of the package. The second element is the Graphical User Interface which is implemented in Java. The display is divided into 5 windows, with the game board occupying the largest window. The other windows show the clocks, game notation, search information, and a histogram. Replace Proprietary Software Notice that no clock is used in these games with Shredder online. It moves almost instantly, and I doubt that it thinks on its opponent's time. If Shredder online uses almost no time, and if the human players are using significant amounts of time, then Shredder is probably spotting its opponent hundreds of rating points.
